The Duck lies in the very heart of the Lake District with breathtaking views of the surrounding fells. Perfectly situated within a few minutes drive of Tarn Hows, Coniston Old Man and the Langdale Pikes.

Its location within 60 acres of private land on a crossroads high above Lake Windermere provides a stunning setting for this quite extraordinary Lakeland Inn.

Take a look at our 360° tour

A minutes walk away from the Inn lies the Duck Tarn, stocked with Brown and Rainbow Trout, a delightfully secluded place in which residents may enjoy complimentary fly-fishing in season.

Leave the M6 at Exit 36, South Lakes turn off, take the A590/A591 bypassing Kendal and Windermere, towards Ambleside. At Waterhead traffic lights, turn left onto the A593 for about a mile, this will take you around the head of the lake. At Ambleside Rugby Club turn left, following the road over Rothay Bridge and on to Clappersgate; turn left again over Brathay Bridge on to the B5286, signposted to Hawkshead. Follow this road for about a mile, on the right there is a directional sign to the Duck. Turn right, straight up Duck Hill and we are on the crossroads at the top.
